Barry Tierney is a singer/songwriter of world wide respect. He has won several international songwriting awards including the prestigious International Songwriting Contest (2008) in London with his song “The Rocketboy”, Which was hailed by such artists as Robin Gibbs of the Bee Gees. Although no formal education, Barry has written with some of the worlds best songwriters including a two time Grammy award winner. Now only 22, Barry has toured the world including the U.S.A and Europe sharing stages with Mick Flannary, John Spillane and other great artists. Barry has appeared on several TV and Radio shows around Europe.
Barry has recorded with the likes of blues legend Freddie White ,Pat Crowley,Christian Best,Wayne Sheehy and Sam Clauge amongst other great musicians.
Barry also plays Saxophone, but Vocal and Guitar are his first instruments.
In July 2010 Barry’s single “Love Is Sweeter Than Wine” reached NO.1 in the Irish download charts and received wide spread airplay in the Republic as well as the North of Ireland. Although it moved away from his roots of cont./folk it proved a huge hit with his fans.
In 2011 Barry won the IMRO sponsored Sean McCarthy Memorial Ballad Writing Contest with his song ‘A Night in thr Grave Yard’
Back in 2009 Barry’s award winning song “The Rocketboy” hit the top 20 in the main chart in Norway ..
Barry’s first commercial album is due for release in early 2012 and comprises of live recordings and duets and is produced by Christian Best.
